Around Town

While on a photo shoot one time in the Bywater, I was approached by a tourist couple who said to me, “You don’t know how lucky you are to live in New Orleans.” Oh, I know. For all the doom and gloom about crime, this city is one of the most beautiful places in North America. During the 20th century, when most cities around the United States were tearing down their old architecture and infrastructure, New Orleans was falling behind economically and structurally, but now, fifty years on we here in New Orleans have finally realized that what we have is a treasure that no one else in the U.S. has – a well-preserved city from the eighteenth century. My people have lived here for 200 years. I am New Orleans.
